28 July 2026 – Mr. Mengda Zhao, Board Member of the Shanghai Prospect Development Institute (SPDI) and CEO of Longcharm Group, together with Dr. Lina Wang, Board Member of SPDI and Co-founder of Longcharm Education, met with Professor Graham Virgo, Master of Downing College, University of Cambridge, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in lifelong learning, continuing education, international education and summer programmes.
During the meeting, Professor Graham Virgo, a leading advocate for lifelong learning and continuing education at the University of Cambridge, shared valuable insights into the University's experience in adult education, online learning and the development of lifelong learning programmes. He also introduced Downing College's current educational initiatives and expressed strong confidence in the future of China's education sector. Professor Virgo noted that he looks forward to strengthening cooperation with SPDI in areas including continuing education, international programmes and summer schools, and expressed his hope of establishing a long-term partnership between the two institutions.
Dr. Lina Wang introduced SPDI's more than thirty years of development, its educational philosophy, organisational development and future strategic vision. She also highlighted the Institute's recent achievements in international educational exchange, continuing education and talent development. Dr. Wang noted that SPDI remains committed to its mission of serving society through education and talent development, and looks forward to working with leading global universities to expand access to high-quality educational resources and explore innovative models of international continuing education.
Mr. Mengda Zhao introduced the work of Longcharm Group and Longcharm Education in international education, youth development and educational innovation. He expressed the hope that, by building on SPDI's educational platform, both sides could deepen cooperation in international programmes, summer schools, continuing education and talent development, creating more high-quality educational and exchange opportunities for young people and Chinese entrepreneurs.
Both parties agreed to maintain close communication and further explore collaborative opportunities in lifelong learning, continuing education and international educational exchange. They expressed a shared commitment to promoting educational innovation, strengthening UK-China educational cooperation, and contributing to the development of globally minded talent.
